• Raw materials and shavings preparation: Lightweight wood is used (the larger the density of the pallet, the heavier it is). The shape of the shavings is generally 50mm long, 10-20mm wide, and about 0.5mm thick. Small-diameter wood, twig wood, or wood processing residues should be cleaned of dust, and the bark content should be strictly controlled, not exceeding 5% to ensure the quality of the shavings. The thickness of the shavings is 0.3-0.5mm. After magnetic separation, the wood chips are sent to the double-drum flaking machine to be processed into shavings, and then sent to the dryer. After drying, the moisture content of the shavings should be controlled within the range of 2-3%. Small shavings and unqualified oversized shavings need to be sorted and removed.
• Glue mixing: In order to prevent the shavings from breaking, it is not advisable to use a high-speed glue mixer, and a drum glue mixer is generally used. Two sets of spraying systems can be set up to spray two types of glue that should not be mixed. Generally, isocyanate is mixed with urea-formaldehyde resin, or phenolic resin is mixed with melamine resin, and the glue amount is 2%-15%, generally 4%-10%. The measured wood shavings and the quantitative urea-formaldehyde resin are fed into the rubber mixer at the same time. The moisture content of the mixed wood shavings should be controlled within the range of 8-10%.
• Glue spreading and hot pressing: Special equipment is used, and the glue spreading is carried out in two steps. First, the pallet foot is spread and pre-pressed, and then the flat part of the pallet is spread. Some shallow-foot pallets can also be glued at one time. The punch is fixed on the upper movable beam of the hot press, and the concave mold moves between the hot press and the material spreader. It is placed on the lower workbench of the hot press and is equipped with a special molding device. Spread the wood shavings mixed with glue in the mold, and then pre-press and hot press until the resin is completely cured, and then the mold can be lifted. First, spread the shavings after sizing into a metal mold in a quantitative manner and pre-form them with cold pressing. Then put them into the hot press to shape them.
• Edge trimming: mainly trimming, that is, removing excess flash on the edge of the product.
